Housing Toolkit

Two people are sitting, engaged in a conversation. One person is talking, taking notes on a tablet of paper.

Your role as a support professional is to ensure people can make informed choices about where they live and to support and empower them to reach their housing goals.

This toolkit will introduce you to practical steps and helpful tools you can use to help people with disabilities explore available housing options as well as short- and long-term housing supports.

A place to live is the foundation on which we build our lives, but too often people with disabilities experience barriers to achieving their housing goals — instead building plans based simply on where an affordable option is available. While immediate stable housing is an important part of making informed decisions, it is just as important to plan and set long-term housing goals that meet a person's needs and wants.
