State Medical Review Team (SMRT): Overview

“”

The State Medical Review Team (SMRT) is a group of medical professionals and staff at the Minnesota Department of Human Services who complete disability determinations. This determination is for individuals seeking a disabled basis of eligibility for Medical Assistance (MA) and programs accessible to someone with MA, such as home and community-based waivers, MA under the TEFRA option and MA-EPD.

A SMRT disability certification gives people access to state-funded programs, like Community First Services and Supports (CFSS), Family Support Grant (FSG), and Special Needs Basic Care (SNBC).
