The job process

Develop interview skills

Is the youth ready to participate in job interviews?

High school is an ideal time to learn and practice interview skills. Remind youth that the interview is the most critical part of the selection process. The interview is where the company collects additional information and gauges job-related knowledge, skills and abilities, ultimately deciding if a candidate is hired or not.

  • Awareness: Understand how to use interview skills.
  • Exploration: Identify strengths, preferences, interests and needs related to job interviews.
  • Preparation: Practice using job interview skills at home, school and in the community.
  • Implementation: Use skills in a job interview.
